Tom Meira Armony – ‘Creative Mothers’
Tom Meira Armony is a producer, keyboardist, and composer for TV, film, and media. I had the pleasure of photographing her and her daughters Eliya and Ruth at their beautiful home in Jaffa for my 'Creative Mothers' project. Tom is the first of three mothers I photographed during my travels.
“Motherhood unveiled to me the illusion that one thing comes at the expense of the other. I was so frightened when I became a mother, worried myself in the turmoil of thoughts of gain and loss. But I have learned that like all the branches of a tree strive from the same bark and roots, being a mother and being a creator, are essentially unified within me.
They are branches of myself. There is harmony, and there is a responsibility of orchestration.
If every instrument in a symphony would play at the same time and dynamic, how would we enjoy the music? How would we hear the melody? How would we dance to the movement?
This perspective has changed the way I am orchestrated in life , as my daughters are my most profound tutors of this life journey, urging me to constantly change, inviting me - over and over - to evolve. I could not have come to this without the help of a very wise teacher known as ‘WAHIDA RUTH’ who has been my guidance, and who has led me through my pains and shortcomings into blossom. To say this came easily would be an oversight, but once it clicked in me, it did come with ease , And I have cultivated this everyday ever since.
In the darker hours, I listen and I ask – “Please stretch my heart so that there will be room for everything .”
